's a look at the weather. let's check traffic with elizabeth. >> thanks. unfortunately we have big problems developing now in sunnyvale. we're talking about a jackknifed big rig right there approaching the lawrence expressway exit in the southbound lanes of 101. now, three lanes are blocked in the southbound direction. no reports of any injuries with this jackknifed rig or what exactly the truck was carrying but we know that traffic is just squeezing by right now partially in that left lane and the center divide. also the on-ramp, the lawrence expressway on-ramp to southbound 101 is completely blocked. 280 is the best alternate in the area. not big backups now but if this continues to be out there for a while which it sounds like it could, chp just issued a traffic alert for that stretch, they will just said that they are hoping to get lanes 30 to 40 minutes after the tow crew arrives arrives son scene. we are waiting for word for when the crew arrives and then it could be 40 minutes from then so this is going to be an issue for the start of the morning commute for sure. so 280 a good alter

to make the big move and declared would it strike but the bridge district said fine and made a big move and said we're going to cancel service entirely. negotiations have been going on since november 2009. the union is upset because 16 ticket agents are going to be replaced by ticket machines next week the bridge district is trying to close a gap of $89 million. they decided shutting down service would be the right thing to do, to cut to the chase and let the customers know because they figured other unions wouldn't want to cross the line but the employees were disappointed. >> we would appreciate it if they would focus more on the employees and 34 years of service and treating them in a way they can leave the judge but to disrespect them and cast them off in hopes we won't make a ruckus as we leave july 8th. >> i think our organization has an excellent track record in what we but put on the table. >> reporter: bridge officials are offering to reassign the workers that is being replaced by machines. hopefully the number of people that will be impacted will be smaller than usual. if you

higher. the ftse and the dax are both down. sony is reporting big losses. let's go to kyung lah, live in tokyo. good morning, kyung. >> reporter: good morning, ali. it's not just sony but it is a bad day in a lot of boardrooms and many of the electronics companies here in japan. we saw a lot of reporting of the quarter from april to june. sony posted a loss of 191 million u.s. dollars. panasonic, down 390 million. sharp down 630 million and nintendo says they lost in that quarter 327 million u.s. dollars. why? well, partially because of the march 11th earthquake. they are still trying to recover from the poor sales and the supply problems. the other theme we keep seeing over and over again from these electronics companies is the currency problem. the u.s. dollar is sinking. sinking very rapidly in these last six weeks. u.s. manufacturers, just like japanese manufacturers all operate on the u.s. dollar. and so when japanese manufacturers then have to repatriate these funds here, they lose if the dollar is sinking and the yen is rising. what is pushing the dollar down is all of that u.s

street is worried about washington. late wednesday moody's one of the big three credit rating agencies warning it might have to lower the rating if lawmakers don't come to an agreement on raising the debt ceiling. in the statement it said the action was prompted by the possibility that the debt limit woil not be raised in time to prevent a missed payment on u.s. bonds with a small but rising risk of ashort-lived default. economists say if the aaa rating is lowered it will throw the financial markets into chaos and the cost of borrowing would go up to everything from morlts to car loans. ben bernanke warned. >> i think the worst outcome if we don't raise the limit, at some point we default on debt and that would create as i said before, a huge financial calamity. >> reporter: sources say the president knew about the moody's warning as he headed into wednesday meeting which all sides describe as tense. republican majority leader eric cantor cited the president as saying i have reached my limit. he left saying i'll see you tomorrow. the two sides couldn't even agree about what happened in
